Supreme Hat and Cap Manufacturers CC, incorporating Geraldo’s, is a 100% South African-owned manufacturer of a wide range of finely crafted men’s wool, rabbit fur, straw and fabric headwear. We receive rebates on imported raw materials so that we can produce locally to maintain local industry; in order to produce our impressive range of dress and casual hats and accessories. And to top it all, Supreme Holdings is one of the most price competitive hat manufacturers in South Africa.

We import and distribute infants and children’s head pieces. We are also pleased to announce the opening of our showcase of couture millenary ― our distinctive ladies’ fashion and dress headwear.

Supreme Holdings has a fine tradition of hat and headwear manufacturing. Mordechai Pozniak first opened the doors of Supreme Hat and Cap in 1939 in downtown Johannesburg. From these humble beginnings, the company flourished. Simon Pozniak, the younger of two sons joined the company in the mid 1940s and it continued its impressive growth, primarily as headwear wholesalers. In 1953 we bought premises in Heriotdale in Johannesburg, where the company and group are still headquartered.

The new premises housed the beginnings of a felt hood and hat factory. In 1977 we bought our biggest competitor, Harritz Hat Factory and became the only wool felt hat body factory in Africa. This enabled the company to integrate all aspects of production to export wool felt hat bodies all over the globe to the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Italy and China.

The company chose to focus on wool felt hood and hat manufacturing and we sold off the cap business. This prompted the beginning of cap imports from the East. Simon’s son Julian joined the company in 1972 and Robert followed his footsteps in 1988. This inspired further expansion with the purchase of Headmasters (Pty) Ltd in 2003 and Geraldo Headwear in 2007.

The fourth generation of Pozniaks began to join the business in 2003 and continue to do so. They have retained Mordechai’s vision of manufacturing distinctive and high-quality headwear, apparel and accessories and steered the majority stake purchase in Wembley Apparel Pty Ltd & the establishment of Supreme Apparel.

As a group, which is wholly owned by the Pozniak family, we pride ourselves on our tradition and history and we continue to strive to explore new ways to expand, grow and diversify.
